Description:

Exploring and soaring is the name of the game as our little friends create their own paper kite and have an adult volunteer string up their kite on our electric cross-museum pulley system and watch their kite fly high and wide from one corner of our “tree house” to the other!

Educational Philosophy:

Through “flying” a kite with a pulley system, children discover mechanical wonders. Children can follow their kite as it flies around the track. Youngsters will also get a better sense of “if-then” relationships, as they watch their kits fly higher and faster as they continue to soar around in the air.

Summary:

In Go Fly a Kite, the young child…

  • Coordinates movements to follow objects
  • Acts independently while problem solving
  • Demonstrates control when performing fundamental locomotor, non-locomotor and manipulative skills
  • Becomes familiar with the use of mechanical devices
  • Identifies the principles of movement
