Director of Development - Full Time
The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.

The Director of Development is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all of the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn’s fundraising including, the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events and capital campaigns. The Director works closely with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors in all development and fundraising endeavors.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and execute the organization’s fundraising strategies.
- Direct and oversee all aspects of fundraising at the Museum including but not limited to major gifts, annual fund, capital campaigns, fundraising special events and drives, grant management, etc.
- Meet prospective donors and supporters on a continual basis to establish effective communications with them.
- Oversee prospect research.
- Work closely with the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn’s Executive Director, and Board of Directors.
- Make public appearances/accept speaking engagements to share information about the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn within the region.
- Staff the Board Development Committee meetings.
- Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems.
- Supervise and collaborate with other staff, including, but not limited to the Director of Educational Experiences and the Executive Director.
- Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities.
- Maintain gift recognition programs.
- Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
- Perform other related duties as requested.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must embrace the mission of the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn.
- Strong interpersonal and writing skills.
- Have knowledge and experience in fundraising techniques, particularly major gift fundraising.
- Possess the skills to work with and motivate staff, board members and other volunteers.
- Have the desire to get out of the office and build external relationships.
- Be a “self-starter” and goal driven to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls.
- Be organized and exhibit “follow through” on tasks and goals.
- Display a positive attitude, show concern for people and community, demonstrate presence, self-confidence, common sense and good listening ability.
- A bachelor’s degree.
- 5 years minimum experience in professional fundraising.
- CFRE certification preferred, but not required.

Play Coordinator - Part Time
Position Summary
Responsible for performing floor duties to ensure that exhibits are neat, clean and well maintained while having positive interactions with our visitors.
Essential functions
Candidates must demonstrate the following competencies: manage interpersonal relationships and interact/communicate with clarity, tact and courtesy with patrons, staff, and volunteers; communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing; identify priorities; recognize and resolve or refer problems; work effectively without supervision as a part of a team; use or learn a range of position-related software applications, such as When I Work; previous experience preferred; Point of Sale experience a plus.
Mental Demands
Requires strong customer service skills. Ability to perform multiple tasks. Attention to detail; deal effectively with people; work under pressure. Must be organized and detail oriented.
Physical Demands
Must be capable of lifting light boxes. Must be able to pick up items off of the floor as well as clean items. Regular attendance is mandatory.

Position Summary
Responsible for performing floor duties to ensure that exhibits are neat, clean and well maintained while having positive interactions with our visitors.

- Greet warmly the members and visitors as you see them.
- Follow the cleaning schedule as outlined, taking direction from your Team Leader in terms of the priorities.
- Engage with guests/children as they explore the museum. Answer questions they have and help make their experience a positive one.
- Pick up exhibit pieces off of the floor to ensure a safe play environment.
- Wash/clean exhibits and exhibit pieces as you can, making sure that you aren’t cleaning where children are immediately playing.
- Check bathrooms on 1st / 2nd floor ensuring that each stall has toilet paper, toilets are flushed and the bathroom looks clean and presentable.
