Volunteering at the Museum
We do not take court appointed volunteers.
Volunteers are essential to the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn. We are always looking for more volunteers to join our team. We offer a variety of volunteer positions both long–term and short-term with a variety of benefits. We have both youth and adult volunteer opportunities available. All volunteers (including students looking to volunteer for service hours) are required to attend an orientation session prior to volunteering at the museum. We do not take court appointed volunteers.
Youth Volunteers
This program provides opportunities for teens ages 13 to 17 to assist with event activities and interact with museum visitors. Here are just a few things you may be asked to do as a volunteer at the museum...helping families do art projects in the art room, facilitating a science activity, playing with children in the museum and assisting with cleaning and resetting museum exhibits. Hours are flexible during regular museum hours and at special events. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please fill out a youth volunteer application and sign up for youth volunteer orientation.
Step 1: Fill out a Youth Volunteer Application here.
Step 2: Register for a youth volunteer orientation. Sign up here.
Step 3: You will receive a waiver to have signed by a guardian at orientation. This waiver will need to be
returned to the museum before you can start volunteering.
Have you already turned 18 and still need service hours for school? You can still volunteer. It is just a slightly different process. Email Hedy at [email protected].
Adult Volunteers
Donate your time and talents to help make a difference for thousands of children and families who visit the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn each year. Individuals, organizations and corporations can support the museum's mission to positively impact a child's potential in life through play-based education. All volunteers 18 years old or older need to complete a criminal background check before volunteering in the museum. If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please email [email protected].
