America United – A Traveling Exhibit
Honoring Unity, Resilience, and Patriotism
America United: The Days After 9/11 is a powerful traveling exhibit that tells the story of how America came together in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. Featuring authentic steel beams from the wreckage of the Twin Towers, this exhibit provides an interactive space for visitors to reflect, learn, and share their thoughts on unity, resilience, and the spirit of helping others.
This exhibit is available for loan to museums, libraries, schools, veterans’ organizations, and other institutions nationwide.

About the Exhibit
In 2010, steel beams from the wreckage of the World Trade Center made their way to Oak Lawn, Illinois, where a monument honoring first responders and victims of 9/11 was created by sculptor Erik Blome. During construction, a section of these beams was gifted to the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, leading to the creation of America United: The Days After 9/11.
This exhibit does not focus on the attacks themselves but rather on how America responded—with unity, resilience, and compassion. Developed in partnership with Genesis Therapy Center, the exhibit is designed to be accessible to all ages, helping visitors process historical events while fostering discussions on kindness, community, and the power of helping others.
