The Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn proudly honors the legacy of James “Jim” Buschbach, a longtime Oak Lawn civic leader whose dedication to community helped shape many of the institutions families benefit from today, including the Children's Museum in Oak Lawn.
Jim was a successful local businessman who, alongside his wife Joan, co-founded Buschbach Insurance and World Travel Mart. But beyond his professional accomplishments, Jim was known throughout Oak Lawn for his tireless commitment to community service. He served in leadership roles with the Oak Lawn Chamber of Commerce, Advocate Christ Medical Center, Advocate Children’s Hospital, and the Oak Lawn Parks Foundation, among many other initiatives.
Jim was also instrumental in the development of the Children’s Museum in Oak Lawn, helping bring the vision of a place dedicated to learning through play to life for generations of children and families.
The Jim Buschbach Memorial Golf Outing honors a man who believed deeply in giving back and strengthening the community he loved. Through this event, we celebrate his legacy and continue the work he cared about so deeply.

Golfers can register individually or as a foursome. Each golfer receives a hot dog lunch, 18 holes of golf, and dinner following the outing.
Not a golfer? You can still be part of the event. Dinner-only tickets are available for those who want to join us after golf for food, networking, raffles, and an evening supporting the museum’s mission to positively impact a child’s potential in life through play-based education.
