Anew: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse provides advocacy, support and violence education to children from birth to age 5 and their families exposed to violence in their home and/or community through our Safe From the Start (SFS) program. SFS is an Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority (ICJIA) funded state-wide, research-based program addressing children's exposure to violence. We have been offering SFS services since 2004 and help children regulate their emotions and process the trauma they have experienced. Anew aims to increase community awareness about early childhood exposure to violence, develop collaborative referrals/resources and provide prevention services. Our services are provided by licensed counselors and social workers. All services are free of charge for victims and are available in English and Spanish.
Anew: Building Beyond Violence and Abuse also provides Adult Counseling services providing the opportunity for domestic violence victims/survivors to talk about their abuse experiences, and to build confidence and hope for their future. Counseling helps to empower, support, and provide domestic violence education. We support victims/survivors in making their own decisions in a safe and confidential environment and provide the opportunity for them to process and heal from the trauma they have experienced.
