The Museum has now become a Maynard family tradition – Cindy continues to bring her four grandchildren to visit. When she’s not visiting the Museum, Cindy volunteers her time. She helps plan fundraisers, including dinner dances, Casino Nights, the annual Princess Ball, Mom’s Night Out and tile painting.
Cindy also puts her creative skills on display by making the centerpieces, decorations and raffle prize baskets for these events.
“It gives me the chance to be creative,” Cindy explains, “[and] help the Museum raise the funds it needs to continue to grow and offer education and fun for our children.
In her years with the Museum, Cindy has made irreplaceable relationships with others who also share her passion for the Museum and local children.
“I’ve met some wonderful people that have enriched my life while working on the different fund raising projects,” Cindy says. “Every time I drive past the Museum, I know that I had the opportunity to be a part of making the dream come true of having a wonderful museum for our children right here in Oak Lawn.”
Outside of CMOL, Cindy manages a travel agency, plays the organ and piano at Trinity Lutheran Church and is the music director and organist for Burbank Manor Presbyterian Church.
She also loves to travel with her grandchildren and sister, and has visited places all over the world, including Europe, Australia, Mexico, Canada and the Caribbean.
